you ever feel like you really don't give a shit about anything?

Recently I just finished watching the Neon Genesis Evangelion series (as part of the r/anime re-watch on reddit), as well as The End Of Evangelion, and am currenlty watching the rebuild movies. The series really affected me, and I didn't expect it to, so I thought I might just share my thoughts on the series as a whole (excluding the rebuilds).

I honestly did not expect to love the show as much as I did. When I saw the re-watch happening I just thought it would be a good opportunity to finally watch this show that I’d heard so much about and finally understand what people go on about when they talk about it. I wasn’t really looking forward to the mecha aspect of the show, because from the few mecha shows I have seen, I’ve learnt that I don't really care for the genre. That's why I was so pleasantly surprised to find that emphasis was not put on action scenes and cool mecha fights, but the characters inside them.

The characterisation was phenomenal in this show – I really, really loved how they went about developing and revealing the reasons for the characters being the way they were. I have to say that my favourite character was Shinji, just because he seemed like such a realistic and relatable character. I don’t understand why there’s a common belief that Shinji is a “pussy” character – to me, he just feels like an actual fourteen year old boy acting as he would when put into the situations he was put into. The rest of the cast was also great, and I loved the development from the first impression they gave to the eventual reveal for them being that way. Asuka’s breakdown in episode 22 in particular struck me – I actually had a nightmare that night brought about by her screams and all the flashing images. I so did not expect the show to affect me how it did. Of course, I know that I still don’t understand everything that happened, but nevertheless I really love the show.

I also just want to commend the soundtrack for the show. I’ve already been listening to the soundtrack by itself for about a week now, and have to say that it’s brilliant. As well as that, I also want to say that I loved the art style, despite the fact that it has aged some, and the character designs and animation (for the most part haha) was great. Also, I watched the Japansese dub, and have to say that the voice acting really was phenomenal (Shinji's scream at the end of episode 3 really sold just how good it was to me). Overall, I've rated the series a 10/10, because it truly was a masterpiece. I really loved it, and finally realise why some hold it in such high regard.

It has literally been yonks since I’ve been active on this site. And I'm really sorry for that.

Really, it’s pretty sad when I think about it, because I used to be obsessed with deviantART, doing commissions, art trades, making friends on here, the whole thing. But now I’ve just been posting the odd photo and or writing on here, but not really being active. 

And I want to change that. 

Because I feel as though I’ve lost some of my creativity over the years. I recently got a new sketchbook and have been doing some pretty crap doodling in it but it’s been so fun. And it’s reminded me of my love of creating art and all that.  

So I want to return to being semi-active on here. I want to write more creative things, I want to draw more, I want to make short films, I want to expand my photography. So I think I’m gonna be a bit more active on here, which I’m really happy about. 

Whether or not anyone still remembers me will be interesting, haha. If you do remember me when you see this pop up in your watch box, please know that I love you and really appreciate you taking the time to read this. Seriously, thank you

But yes. This won’t be another empty promise that I make and never actually do. I already have some drawings I’m going to scan in, and maybe even the short story I’ve been writing for a year and a bit. I might post that in chapters, or... haha I'm getting ahead of myself. One step at a time
